Utah Advances Legislation to Ban Clinics That Offer Only Abortion

Last Friday the Utah House of Representatives passed some of the strongest pro-life legislation advanced since the reversal of Roe v. Wade.
The bill was passed nearly along party lines, with Republicans supporting it and Democrats opposing it. The new legislation was signed into law by Gov. Spencer Cox.
New pro-life measure recognizes the father’s responsibility for his unborn child, and financially empowers the mother.
Jean Hill, director of the Archdiocese of Salt Lake City’s Office of Life, Justice and Peace, said that the diocese supported the final version of the bill.
The National Center on Sexual Exploitation, an anti-pornography and sex trafficking group, applauded the bill’s passage in early March.
Under Utah law, certain professionals including clergy, teachers, medical professionals, and law enforcement must report allegations of child abuse to authorities.
