The sisters of the order founded by St. Teresa of Calcutta were welcomed at a parish in the town of Cañas.
The sisters were welcomed to the Diocese of Tilarán-Liberia in neighboring Costa Rica by Bishop Manuel Eugenio Salazar Mora.
The National Assembly still has to approve the order. However, President Ortega’s Sandinista National Liberation Front political party holds 75 out of the 90 seats, so it is expected to be approved.

The sisters elected Sister Joseph Michael, who will be the third superior to lead the order since its founder’s death in 1997.
