The Holy Father expressed his hope that the Jubilee of Mercy will be ‘a favorable occasion for the cold indifference of so many hearts to be won over by the warmth of mercy’ in addressing needs of migrants and those suffering from persecution, war and cultural shifts.
The Holy See is asking the United Nations to take action against ‘violent non-state actors’ who are violating human rights and forcing an unprecedented number of people to migrate.
Topics discussed included clergy sexual abuse, divorce, the new annulments process, women’s ordination to the priesthood, the migrant crisis and the right of government officials to conscientious objection.
