The order received the first allegations of sexual misconduct in October 2018.
Father Johan Verschueren, the major superior for the international houses of the Jesuits, told ACI Prensa, CNA’s Spanish-language news partner, this week that he has been Father Rupnik’s superior since January 2020. Father Verschueren also revealed which Jesuit priests were Father Rupnik’s superiors since 2004.
Father Marko Rupnik, a Jesuit priest and artist originally from Slovenia, has been accused of the sexual, spiritual and psychological abuse of at least nine women from a religious community with which he was formerly connected.

The Vatican released the volume on Dec. 22, three weeks after the Jesuit’s alleged abuse was first reported in Italian media.
The woman told an Italian newspaper that her reports of Father Marko Rupnik’s alleged serial abuse were ignored by superiors, and that ‘Father Marko was protected by everyone.’
The clergyman committed a crime of the sacrament of confession, which is one of the most serious crimes in the Catholic Church. The Jesuit is alleged to have also sexually abused members of a women’s institute of religious life in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
