After specialists at Evelina London Children’s Hospital said that life-support treatment should be removed, the case went to the High Court, which issued its ruling on Jan. 8.
The bishops said they had spoken out in response to those expressing concern about whether they or their loved ones would receive life support at a time of “medical rationing.”
‘The government needs to immediately halt any efforts to force access to assisted suicide,’ said Archbishop J. Michael Miller.

Auxiliary Bishop David O’Connell said, ‘This is a challenge to all of us, especially to all of us who have faith, to teach always about the infinite value of each human life.’
